I Need You

A wide-angle image of a brown-skinned woman and a man in a cozy kitchen. The woman, wearing a bonnet and furry pink slippers, is cooking stir-fry on the stove, with a gentle sweat on her brow from the heat. The man is at the sink, washing dishes. The kitchen has a warm ambiance, with natural light coming through the window and highlighting the couple's collaborative effort.

I need you here,
Promises whispered, becoming air.
Be present, as you vowed you could,
In this moment, just as you should.

In the kitchen’s warmth, our efforts blend,
Washing dishes, side by side, we mend.
Tasks overwhelm, a list unending,
Surprise me, our burdens together tending.

Weariness ages me beyond my years,
Unspoken pleas, hoping you’ll hear.
Expectations mount, a heavy load,
Ease my mind, share this road.

Regulations, can we not ease?
With you, life’s rules gently cease.
Add not to the stress I bear,
Together, let’s unburden this affair.

Chasing dreams, I lose my way,
Disappointments, night and day.
Yet, from sorrow’s stream, I won’t retreat,
Steady we stand, no defeat.

Help me navigate, through thick and thin,
Smile by day, at night tears begin.
Take it slow, understand my plea,
Word by word, step by step, with me.
