Y.O.L.O.

An African-American woman wearing a white sun dress and a brown afro is sitting criss-cross applesauce style with her back to the camera as she gazes at a beutiful scenic view. In her view there a crystal blue body of water and cotton candy colored blue and pink clouds above the water in the sky. The woman looks calm and content as she absorbs the beauty of nature. This image is meant to accompany the poem YOLO.

In bustling plazas, unaware they tread,
Tomorrow’s existence hangs by a thread.
Dining in doubt, savoring each last bite,
Life’s uncertain path veiled in the night.

Commute through days, jobs become routine,
Trading precious hours for the rent machine.
Taking for granted texts and calls so sweet,
Will loved ones rise when the day’s complete?

Endless toil, lost in the daily strife,
Unaware of the essence of this one life.
A singular shot, the chance to thrive,
Seize the moment, make this life alive.

Pause for a moment, take time off’s embrace,
Secure that loan, step into the unknown space.
Dreams of high risk, the path to pursue,
Maximize time, let life’s colors imbue.

Yet beware the hourglass, relentless it flows,
Don’t look foolish when its last grain goes.
Live your best, explore this vast land,
For in the end, it’s the moments that stand.
